Reid Stockfeeds partners with Big Bag Recovery for a cleaner Future

Reid Stockfeeds is proud to announce our partnership with Big Bag Recovery (BBR), an Australian Government Accredited product stewardship scheme for plastic bags with over 15kg/l of contents. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable agriculture and responsible packaging management.

The Reid family roots are in farming, our purpose is providing a sustainable protein source through feeding downgraded cereal grains that outside livestock production have little commercial value. As a family business built on agriculture and livestock production, we believe in ensuring that Reid’s waste product has appropriate avenues for minimal environmental impact. Our partnership with Big Bag Recovery for our Stockfeed retail bags (20kg and 800kg bulka bags) and supply-chain bags, addresses our concern over waste packaging, ensuring a responsible cycle from paddock to your hands—and back to a productive purpose.

 Nick Reid, CEO.

What is Big Bag Recovery?

Founded in 2015, Big Bag Recovery has grown from a small Queensland operation to a nationally recognised program. Big Bag Recovery collects and recycles large plastic bags from various industries, transforming potential waste into valuable resources.

Why This Matters to You

As a valued customer, you play a crucial role in this initiative. By participating, you’re not only contributing to a cleaner environment but also supporting the circular economy and creating jobs in regional communities.

The Impact of Your Participation

When all Reid Stockfeeds bags are returned for processing:

  • 49,905 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions will be reduced (equivalent to taking 10,800 cars off the road for a year)
  • $85,000 in landfill costs will be saved annually
  • One circular economy job will be created every three years

How to Participate: Easy Steps for Sustainability

  1. Collect: Gather your used Reid Stockfeeds 20kg BOPP and 800kg bulka bags.
  2. Store: Keep bags undercover, raised off the ground. Roll and tie them or lay flat with weights to prevent pest access.
  3. Separate: Sort bags by logo. Avoid storing bags inside each other.
  4. Locate: Contact Big Bag Recovery at info@bigbagrecovery.com.au or 1800 958 333 to find your nearest return location. Distribution depots are currently expanding, approved locations below.
  5. Return: Once you’ve accumulated enough bags, deliver them to the designated return point.
